What I worked on Today~ and other things
Dec 10th 2011
I really enjoy making dolls ~ and if I may say..especially for myself!
I always loved dolls from an early age, but was not always able to have that special doll as a child. Like so many other families a few years back, times were very different from today...( and no I am not ancient, but I feel like it somedays!) money was not free flowing for fun things, as necessities always came first. We got a doll perhaps at a special occasion only once a year if lucky.
I can remember gazing so longingly as a little kid, at the top shelf of the Five and Dime Store. ..wishing that one of them would fall off and I would actually be able to get a close look! But they never did! I never went into that store without gazing longingly and dreaming!
SOOOOO never in my dreams did I EVER think I would one day make my own! Now just about any doll kit I see I could make...well not almost everyone...as I too have a budget!
I have to say that some of my most favorite kits are the plain little kits that perhaps are not the most popular with all the doll collectors. I love berenguer baby faces and just about every kit with an expression. I reason this way...we had 5 kids and they all had many expressions so I do not want all sleeping peaceful reborn dolls. ... each one is a work of art...so I try and get the ones I know that will give me a little smile as I gaze at them.
So in time you will see my fun collection...in all their animations. Crying, pouting, yawning, smiling etc.... oh and also some sleeping ones too!
So now to my latest dollie news.
First:
Want to help and NAME my latest smiling berenguer reborn babydoll??? See her picture below.
Today I ALMOST finished up my sweet, smiling berenguer kit that my daughter Jennifer (incredababies) got for me several months ago. (I have been working on it in between others, as it is just for me!) No hair yet and it may be awhile ~ if I even do hair on her..
It was a challenge painting, as I find berenguers are very different to paint than an ordinary newer kit ~ Seems more neutralizing is needed and especially on this one, as it had a real orange/ red tinge to the vinyl. The paint also went on differently. Nor did I care much for the perfume smell of it....thank goodness for my mask and my separate area to bake the reborn's in OUTSIDE the living area of my house ~ otherwise I would not have done it, in fact if I did not have a separate area I would not be doing any dolls! As cute as this doll is I will not be painting anymore berenguers. I know some people do not mind the perfumed vinyl smell but personally I could do without it. JMO
This berenguer is a good size ~ To send a name selection, just sign into the guest book on the side and send me your name choice. I will then put all the names in a draw and pic the winning name. You do not have to leave your name unless you want too :) Here she is ~not completely done yet, but I am anxious to show her off!
Keep well everyone and tell your friend to enter the contest to name the baby below!

Thursday JANUARY 5th..2012
Well the day started out as the warmest on record on this date since 1906! But as the day proceeded, the wind has picked up and the RAIN started to fall and now SNOW on top of that ~ making for a very bad combo! !!! Sky is grey and no sun shining so I will not be able to do photos today. Oh well there is always tomorrow!
I would also like to take this time to say a special thanks to all who have emailed me regarding my reborn dolls over the past year and who have got a reborn from me, also thanks to those who so far have entered the *name the baby contest*. To those who like my facebook page I would like to say a big..THANKS!
Some news updates ....
I am putting the finishing touch on my Khian and will soon have her on ebay.
I have started my Melody by Laura Tuzzio Ross. Both are limited edition babies and both with be on Ebay this month. Khian will be first on, I am planning on having her on there next week. ( 2nd week in Jan) But again please check back for the link to the auction.
I just received Bon Bon by Bonnie Brown and also I got Skylar by Deb Degraf...(not sure if I spelled her name right will have to check that later...) So I will be considering those two perhaps next. I also have Buggy by Bonnie Brown (painted already) and Welcome Back Taylor (painted too) so perhaps I will do those 2 first. ...decisions decisions!
I have also added hair to the baby girl above. I will post pics soon. It is alpaca and looks very cute. So as you can see I have been busy :)
We are also processing our own alpaca and mohair which we get from an reputable breeder in the US. We searched for a long time to find them and are so happy we did. All our colors are natural, and we should have a variety of colors and lengths available soon.
You can contact me or Jen @ incredababies.com for more info on the hair.
